Ellur GP to evict UPCL labourers from unauthorized colony

PADUBIDRI: Ellur Gram Panchayat would soon be taking steps to evict laborers from an unauthorized colony at Kemmudelu where workers of the UPCL thermal plant are residing.

Jayanth Kumar, Panchayat member said the general public have been greatly inconvenienced due to the residents of this unauthorized colony and added that already complaints have been lodged with the Udupi Tahsildar, Kaup MLA, local police station as well as Ellur Gram Panchayat.

A local resident Ganesh even pointed out that there were about 350 dwellings in this unauthorized colony where the labourers were seen answering nature’s call in the open much to the embarrassment of women and children who move on this road,. He also complained that the laborers were seen taking bath in the open near the bore well and also misbehaving with local school girls by clicking their photographs. Complaints lodged with the UPCL officials in this regard, have been of no avail, he said.
