MANGALORE : Several progressive organizations under the aegis of the Komu Sauharda Vedike staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangalore on June 1, Friday alleging that the police department website had been saffornised by posting a Collage of an RSS march past in the official website of the DK police for a whole year.

The agitators questioned why the blog maintenance was contracted to private firm when police personnel could have been very well trained to maintain the website.

PB D’Sa, PUCL leader, who spoke on the occasion said “the police department had no control over the website. One cannot expect anything from the police department which has failed to arrest a Bhajrangi leader who had issued an open statement defending the incident of smearing cow dung on the face of professor Pattabhirama Somayaji recently.”

He further said that SP Abhishek Goel by stating that investigations were underway on the issue of posting RSS collage in police website, was only trying to throw dust at public eyes.

Suresh Bhat Bakrabail of Komu Sauharda Vedike said complaints have been lodged with the State and National Human Rights Commission, Prime Minister and Union Home Ministry on the issue of RSS collage in police department website and that there were even plans to move the High Court as per the suggestion of Justice MF Saldanha.”

Ali Hassan also spoke on the occasion. Handouts giving instances of the saffronisation of police department and its impact, were distributed to the public on the occasion.
