Kundapur SI axed for striking ‘deal’ in property dispute case

UDUPI: Amarnath Shetty, former MLA of Mulki-Moodbidri constituency is learnt to have been successful in exerting his political influence and getting suspended Kiran Johnson D’Souza, sub-inspector of Kundapur police station on the charges of striking a deal with the opponent party in connection with a property dispute that cropped up in the family of Appanna Hegde, former MLA of Kundapur.

The Appanna Hegde family has 7.60 acre land in Kundapur taluk and there was a dispute between the Hegde family and a relative Arvind Shetty recently and the case was even taken to the police station. Sub-inspector Kiran Johnson D’Souza had even registered cases against Hegde’s relatives Jayanthi Rai, Indira Rai (Amarnath Shetty’s wife), Dr Jayasurya Rai and Kishore.

SI D’Souza is now facing the allegation that he by striking a deal with the complainant Aravind Shetty had filed charge sheet against the accused. It was following this that Amarnath Shetty exerted his polticial influence and got ’Souza suspended.

Kiran Johnson D’Souza who was posted in Kundapur just a year ago, was earlier once suspended due to a lobbying by some people after he raided several gambling dens in the town.

It may also be recalled here that D’Souza along with Kundapur Circle inspector Madan Gaonkar is also facing the allegation of illegally detaining social activist Radhadas of Kumbhasi and committing atrocities on her.

The case in this regard is pending before the court.
