PADUBIDRI: Ugly politics has crept into a protest against a bad road being staged by residents of Mudarangady GP since four days. Their complaint has been that the Pilarkhana-Gunjigudda road was in dire straits and that the panchayat has failed to repair it despite several appeals. The grouse of the villagers was also that vehicle drivers refused to ply on this road and that several protests earlier were of no use.

Incidentally, this protest is led by the former president of Mudarangady GP David D’Souza and the agitators even picketed the GP office on May 26, Saturday. Complaints are heard that the agitators despite being well aware that the local GP cannot arrange for as much as Rs 40 lakhs which is required for the repair of this 3.05 km stretch of road, had shouted slogans against the sitting GP Chief Sunil Raj Shetty. The latter on his part has alleged that the ex-chief was only resorting to a hate agenda against him owing to personal enmity.

The agitators are now threatening to even lock up the GP office if their demand was not met with. Meanwhile, the agitation since the past three to four days has greatly inconvenienced several people visiting the GP office and the Shirva cops have been able to do nothing but remain mute spectators to the on goings.
