MANGALORE : ” More and more inter-caste and inter-community marriages should take place. I read a good report in this regard in a daily recently which threw light on the act of a few forces that came in the way of inter-community weddings and religious tolerance. This is not acceptable.” So said Dakshina Kannada Principal Civil Judge Anand N Pattana, while referring to a Karavali Ale news in this regard.
He was speaking at a free legal aid camp organised at the police guest house in the city on November 29, Sunday for the benefit of the Dalit community under the auspices of the DK District Legal Services Authority, Bar Association, District Social Welfare Department, Department of Women and Child Development, Human Rights Enforcement Directorate and the Mangalore City Corporation.
” Inter-caste and inter-community weddings reveal that the society was heading towards the right direction. But to read reports that people involved in such cases were being threatened, is indeed a matter of great concern,” Justice Anand said.
HR Deshpande, Principal Civil Judge presided over the function which was earlier inaugurated by Additional SP Ramesh Kumar.
