PUTTUR: The fast track court of Puttur has permitted Vittal arrested on the charges of having links with the Naxals, to write his second semester examinations beginning from May 21. This order has come as a relief for Vittal who was earlier denied permission to write exams by the Belthangady court.

The fast track court has directed that Vittal be allowed to write the exams to be held till May 25, with police escort.

Meanwhile, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor has said that the university permits students to appear for exams based on their attendance and added that in case of Vittal, the next course of action would be taken after consulting experts no sooner the copy of court order reaches them.

In another development, Western range IGP has refuted reports in certain section of the media that the police were even planning to arrest the sister of Vittal who is a nursing student in a Belthangady college on similar charges as that of Naxal.

However, the IGP said the police were investigating Vittal’s case from different angles.
