Groom goes missing on wedding eve

PUTTUR: It has come to light of late that a wedding ceremony scheduled to be held at Kedambady on Thursday last had to be cancelled in the last minute after the groom went missing the previous night.

The marriage of a young woman from Kedambady village was fixed with a youth of Maani and a dowry amount of Rs 1.5 lakhs was also given to the groom. All arrangements were in place and preparations had also begun for the wedding lunch, when there came the shocking news that the groom was missing. The marriage was cancelled and the broker one Hussain, a resident of Darandakukku was given a good thrashing by the locals. It has been reported that the police was informed and the broker handed over to their custody.

Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the groom was fake and that the broker had also produced before the bride’s family some imposters as the groom’s parents.

The groom, it is learnt, fled the town out of fear that the truth may be out and he may be trapped. Latest reports say he has returned the Rs 1.5 lakhs given to him as dowry and that attempts were underway to settle the matter through talks.
