MOODBIDRI : The Moodbidri TMC resolution banning roadside traders, seems to have had no
effect as street vendors have been carrying on their business as usual fearlessly,
It’s true that there had been a debate in the TMC since long as to whether the petty shops need
to be vacated or not. At the same time, there is some justification behind the plea of the petty
shopkeepers to permit petty shops that do not pose a hindrance to traffic. But still, one can
notice that there is just no hindrance for those who sell fruits like water melons royally right
inside a tempo parking slot in the town.
It has been noticed that a water melon seller has been engaging in such a business least bothered
about the inconveniences caused to other motorists. Though recently there was even a dispute in
this regard with the issue even taken to the station, the water melon seller who was missing for a
few days is now at work again and is making brisk business on the other side of the tempo park
in the town.
Why have the TMC authorities turned a blind eye to this ?, people are questioning.
