MOODBIDRI : Villagers of Padumarnadu in Moodbidri who were fed up with the apathy of the
local gram panchayat in repairing the Alangar ?Kana road, recently repaired the road on their
own and thereby proved that determination and will power can help accomplish any task without
waiting for government aid. The road was in such a bad shape and dotted with innumerous
potholes that driving on this road was a challenging task by itself. Motorists dreaded to use this
road as the tyres of the vehicles often got stuck in the potholes, creating more problems.
Though the Panchayat had recently taken up the repair work following repeated appeal, it proved
to be a mere eyewash, forcing the villagers to complain to the gram panchayat and the local
legislator. However, when everything proved futile, they decided to take up the works on their
own and eventually repaired the road.
